As part of a significant re-development of the 110-year old historic DuPont Building, DeSantana was awarded the contract to deliver new marble, quartzite and granite for each of the thirteen floors. We worked with Mark Rizzo of Joseph Rizzo & Sons in New Castle, Delaware, Erik Krupp of InTEch Construction and Ashley Phillips of L2 Partridge Architects, both of Philadelphia.
A team trip to the fabrication facilities in Italy included the design and construction representatives, as well as Chemours executives. All agreed that the experience was not only productive and informative, but also enjoyable. The result was streamlined decisions and efficient trouble-shooting: all important team members were present and details were discussed with our fabrication experts, and decisions were made efficiently saving time and cost.
"The Chemours project in Wilmington, DE required a fast-paced timeline, so we were grateful for DeSantana's collaboration. While we were not in the same location, they managed everything from shop drawings, supplying new stone, working with us to fabricate existing materials, and coordinating with existing conditions - all in one space. From Seay at the drafting table to Jane managing procurement and progress, they met all of our expectations. One key attribute this team offers is working through all of a project's challenges as they arise until a resolution is met. This is a lost art in today's business world. On every aspect of this project, DeSantana showed us that they are one of the best stone companies around. On behalf of the Joseph Rizzo & Sons Company, I would like to extend my appreciation to DeSantana Stone for their ability to work so closely on a renovation project of this magnitude and see it through to success." - Mark P.
